Big Bible Songs,
Beginning Saturday 10th January, 2026
The Cornhill Bible Course is a fantastic opportunity to learn about God’s word. It is designed for those who are keen to develop in the joy of studying and teaching the bible, but who cannot (yet!) commit to doing the full Cornhill Training Course. The course is delivered by Cornhill Scotland lecturers and runs on Saturday mornings from 08:00 to 09:15 (GMT) for six weeks on Zoom.
Our focus in January 2026 will be on a selection of the major biblical songs. Frequently overlooked, these poetic compositions are nevertheless central for interpreting the narratives in which they are embedded, providing theological insight into the Old Testament as a whole.
- 10th January – Genesis 2&3 – ‘Creation’ – Andy Gemmill
- 17th January – Exodus 15 – ‘Redemption’ – Andy Gemmill
- 24th January – Judges 5 – ‘Salvation’ – Challum Finbo
- 31th January – 1 Samuel 2:1-10 – ‘Revenge’ – Jon Gemmel
- 7th February – 1 Chronicles 16:8-36 – ‘Worship’ – Challum Finbow
- 14th February – Isaiah 52:13-53:12 – ‘Atonement’ – Jon Gemmell
Last January, over 80 people took part in the very first Cornhill Bible Course, exploring the Gospels of Mark and Luke together. It was a wonderful time of learning, and we’re excited to offer the course again this year. We hope you’ll find it just as helpful and inspiring. And remember—no matter where you are in the world, you can join us!
Those who would like to join the course must register below. The cost is £30. A zoom link will be sent out by email prior to the start of the course, along with electronic copies of the handouts and course materials.
You are welcome to join the course from anywhere in Scotland, the UK or beyond. There are no pre-requisites – just an internet connection and a desire to take the bible seriously and learn from it.
“What an opportunity to get teaching on how to read the Bible better. It can only be a good thing!”
“CBC was great encouragement to spend more useful time in the Bible and equip you for the Christian life.”
“CBC gives an insight to scripture that we don’t always see when reading and studying alone. We get to know the author and the style of the passages. Scripture is opened in a different way and you are left wondering how you never saw it yourself.”
“As someone who is not formally training for ministry but is serving in church and wanting to be equipped to handle God’s word faithfully to teach others and grow in my own personal knowledge and love of God, CBC was so helpful and a really low pressure, encouraging environment to engage and learn more.”
